Day 1: AEROGO's Aeromodelling Workshop - Building the Basics and RC Planes
The day started early as we arrived at Gopalan College of Engineering and Management, where the magic was about to happen. The first thing on the agenda was setting up for an adventure that would leave a lasting mark on all participants.
On the first day of this exciting journey, we began by laying the essential groundwork for the upcoming RC plane workshop. The students were about to step into the captivating world of remote-controlled Aeromodelling, and it was crucial to ensure they had a strong foundation in the key concepts and skills they would need. This day was all about setting the stage for hands-on learning and action-packed experiences that would define the rest of the workshop.
An Introduction to RC Planes
The workshop began with an engaging presentation that got the students all excited for the journey ahead. Gouthami T S, the Co-founder and CEO of AEROGO, brought a wealth of knowledge and passion to the group. During her presentation, she covered the basics of RC planes, talked about the forces that make them fly, explained aircraft terminology, and different parts of an aircraft, and even went over the different components used in RC Planes. It was a comprehensive introduction that really set the stage for what was to come.
The presentation session was incredibly interactive and engaging. Gouthami T S encouraged questions and discussions throughout, making it a dynamic learning experience for the students. With knowledge freshly imparted, the students were divided into 20 teams, each comprising five members. These teams were then accommodated in two spacious rooms, with ten teams in each room, setting the stage for a collaborative learning experience.
To start their adventure with RC planes, each team got a kit that had all the stuff they needed: Coroplast material, electronic parts, and a checklist to make sure they didn't miss anything. The students got to know what each thing in the kit was for, making sure they were all on the same page before they started building their planes.
